I met Emily through Phuong. They were suitemates at UNC and later roommates in Charlotte. Emily is a young adult writer from Florence, SC. She was living in Boston, pursuing her writing career, when she met Todd. They met at church. Several UNC alumni were at the wedding. Phuong and I stayed in a condo with Christie - from Johnston County, NC - and Jennifer, who was living in Greensboro at the time, completing her MSW. Christie brought pork products from home. We saw Ruthie at the wedding with her husband Kenny. The afternoon service was in a small quaint church on the island. The congregation sang "It Is Well With My Soul." The evening reception was also quaint and fun. Alcohol was served; obviously Todd was a Yankee!

March is a beautiful time down South. Blossoming trees, clear sunshiny days, no haze. Spanish moss dripping from the live oaks. Children riding around lazily on bicycles. The Piggly Wiggly. Going back in time, slowly. Phuong and I rode bikes (well, she rode a trike..) around the island the next day.
