After Ernesto cleared out, a few perfect sunny days followed, and Raj and I drove to the beach to celebrate. He wanted to visit the aquarium, so we headed to the Crystal Coast. We arrived at the hotel in Salter Path around 1:00 p.m., went to the beach for the afternoon and then drove north to Beaufort for an evening cruise around the harbor. The next day, we went for a morning swim in the ocean and in the afternoon, visited the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

The water was warm and inviting -- great boogey boarding on Sunday afternoon,
calm and clear for swimming Monday morning.
